DESCRIPTION OF CARBONLESS COPY PAPERS

Definition

Aerocopy is a carbonless copy paper, coated with two different coatings. When exposed to mechanical pressure it gives more copies without using carbon paper.

Description

CB - first sheet (coated back):

Base paper is coated on the back side with CB coating, containing microencapsulated ink. Under mechanical pressure microcapsules burst, the ink is released and transfered to the CF coating which produces a visible image. In a set of copies the CB sheet is the original.

CFB - middle sheet (coated front and back):

Base paper is coated on both sides. Top side is coated with CF coating, containing active mineral substances. Bottom side is coated with CB coating. In a set CFB sheets are placed between the first and the last sheet; CF coating is always placed on the front side and CB coating on the back side.

CF - last sheet (coated front):

Base paper is coated with CF coating on the front side. The coating contains active mineral substances. CF sheet is the last sheet in a set.

SC

SC is a carbonless copying paper coated on top side with SC coating which contains a combination of CB and CF coating producing a visible copy as a result of mechanical pressure.

SC-CB

SC - CB is a carbonless copy paper:
front side is coated with SC coating, giving a visible copy on front side when pressed mechanically
bottom side is coated with CB coating

Application of Aerocopy carbonless copy paper

Aerocopy carbonless copy papers CB, CFB and CF are used in a set which usually contains CB first sheet, CFB middle sheets and CF last sheet.

Different set combinations are possible:
CB + CF
CB + CFB + CF
CB + CFB (more copies) + CF
more copies of CFB

The number of middle sheets depends on the required number of copies. It is important to position the sheets in the correct order when forming a set.

SC paper is used:

- when typing without typewriter ribbon or if only mechanical pressure is used

- the first sheet is ordinary paper, only one copy is needed

SC - CB paper is used:

- in similar cases as SC paper but when more copies are needed

All Aerocopy papers can be used:
- as printed forms: continuous forms, sets, pads, etc.
- as unprinted forms: telex rolls, calculator rolls and office paper in A4 or A3 size sheets

Number of copies

Aerocopy carbonless copy paper of standard grammage gives the following number of copies in a set: CB + more sheets of CFB + CF:
- handwriting (fibre tip pen, fountain pen): original + 0 copies
- handwriting (chemical pen): original + 3 to 4 copies
- typewriter: original + 4 to 6 copies
- electric typewriter: original + 7 to 8 copies
- matrix printer: original + 3 to 4 copies
- telex: original + 2 to 5 copies

The number of copies depends on the type of typewriter, stroke and machine maintenance.
